Best Things About Summer Because This Season Rocks

Summer is like no other season of the year. After Memorial Day, that's it summertime rolls in. It may be warm all year round where you live but summer is super special where I am and I bet where you are too because:
The best things about Summer are the ones that just make you feel good and remind me that it's really important to make some time to do more of what you love with those you love. Have fun. Stay motivated. Relax and enjoy life.
Really my most favorite reason summer rocks is that it stays light out later and later. I love that at 8 p.m. it is still light out, the sun is not as hot and it's the perfect time of day to take a walk, go shopping or just sit outside and have a cup of coffee.

The Beach and Boardwalk
are just waiting for me to come on down. I don't get to go to the beach often but when I do the 40 minute trip is like being on vacation somewhere else in the world. The sky, the sand, the ocean as far as you can see. The boardwalk filled with rides and happy people. Sea gulls who are waiting for you to drop your funnel cake. Games and arcades, food and the amazing breeze coming off the ocean. Like paradise but not so far away.
Rain showers that end with the sun bursting through the clouds at just the right time bringing with it the most amazing rainbows. Where in the world do they really end and begin, for me rainbows are right on the side of my house and I run out to great them.
Pool time swimming and having some guilt free time off. We don't have our own pool like I did growing up but the ones in my development are big and heated. They provide lounge chairs, grassy areas for kids to play and we are close enough to walk there.
Sandals and flip flops
comfy shoes and no socks. I only wear them when I can't be barefoot.
Ice cream, you scream we all scream for ice cream. We don't scream it but summer is perfect for ice cream breaks at one of the many local ice cream places near by. The biggest problem is picking which delicious home made flavor to choose from, cones or sundaes, sprinkles or nuts!
Summer means no school
for kids and that means no homework or studying for tests. It still hopefully means reading and learning but no pressure, just enjoying.
BBQ Time
that means BBQ parties big and small. Cooking outdoors and not heating up the house. What could be better than burgers, dogs and chicken from the BBQ!

Which leads us directly to S'Mores, yes chocolatey gooey marshmallow and graham cracker s'mores. No summer is complete without them.

Fresh produce at the local stands
is one of the bonuses of living where I do. Bushels of zucchini and crates of strawberries and blueberries fresh from the stand. Corn on the cob picked that morning. Or wake up early before the noon sun and pick your own fresh fruits and vegetables.

Vacation time
is definitely a family affair in the summer. Even short weekend trips away are fun and relaxing. Week long vacations while the kids are off from school and Mom and Dad take some time for work. Then when it's over and you are back at your house, there is no place like Home Sweet Home summery lazy busy crazy days.

We do love summer for all the reasons above, and then some! But there are things about summertime that really turn me off like bugs and heat and well check out this blog post for the top 10 worst things about summer.
How about you, do you love summer as much as we do or is another season your favorite time of the year?

The beach in the Fall is perfect. In Florida. I always loved the beach in every season before I moved down South but now I have discovered I must be solar powered. There is nothing like the ocean, the sand, the amazing sea shells, the sky, the overwhelming feeling that you can leave everything behind and just look out on the horizon that goes on forever..... for just a little while at least.

Your pets will always listen to you. Whether you need to vent or cry. Laugh or sing out loud at something silly. Figure out your next move or confess something no one else knows. They will be looking you in the eye. Letting you be you. They just look at you all wise and loving. A snuggle, a paw and a wink of an eye and everything seems better already.
