IRISH FIREFIGHTER APPAREL & GIFTSFor The Personal Touch
How did Irish Americans come to be the brave, fearless heart of the firefighter brotherhood? In the 1870's and 1880's a flood of immigrants from Ireland came to the United States after facing crop failures and land seizures. With the Irish reputation as being hard workers, brave and dedicated as well as English speaking, they became firemen in major cities and small volunteer fire departments throughout America and their tradition of firefighting has continued throughout generations of families. |
